If your child is anything like mine, board books are something we’ll never have enough of in our house. I am always asking friends for suggestions for new or different books than the ones we already have. It never hurts to add new favorites to the mix! Keep in mind our son is not yet 2 years old, so some of these may be best for younger toddlers.
Here is our family’s list of the top 10 board books for toddlers:
For some reason, it was love at first read for all of us with this book. So much so that my husband and I memorized this book when our son was just a few months old and have recited it to him every night of his life since while we get him ready for bedtime. It will always be a classic in our household!
(2) Where’s Spot?
We love this classic. Our son can’t get enough of lifting the flaps and gets a kick out of my husband’s nicknames for all of the animals.
(3) Mighty Dinos
We were lucky enough to snag this vibrant book at a Marshall’s and my son instantly fell in love with the neon tones and cute rhyme. Now we just love the neon books!
Ok – I know. You probably all already have this one, but we just love it so much that we couldn’t leave it off the list! Gerald is a buddy of ours.
Again, our son just gets a kick out of the flap books. And now he loves showing us his belly while reading this book 🙂
If you already love this one, may I suggest Daddy and Me instead – another adorable lift the flap book
(6) Dear Zoo
I ordered this book when my son was just a tiny little man because it was listed as a “classic” on amazon. I remember the first time I read it to him unimpressed…but now that he’s older, I just love this book’s simplicity. There’s a reason they call it a classic!
(7) Hello, World! Chemistry
One of those really nerdy baby books that my husband just LOVES reading to my son. To be honest, this book taught me a few things I didn’t remember (or ever learn) about chemistry! While we weren’t able to find a link online, you can purchase it at your local Barnes & Noble if you are just itching to teach your 2 year old some chemistry 😉
We are trying to teach our son both English and Spanish (my husband’s first language is Spanish) so this book is fantastic at giving us the words in both languages (you know, in case it has been say 15 years since your last Spanish class…like me!)
These are just great little books to have around the house or when you are on the go. They are incredibly sturdy and will hold up through multiple children.
I just adore this book. And I especially adore the look on my son’s face as I sing a drawn out version of his name to him over and over :). His smile and laughter are contagious!
